in Human Rights

According to the human rights center, no to prison – no to execution, on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, political prisoner Masoumeh Askari was severely beaten by a group of hired prisoners. These prisoners, who were hired by the head of the prison, attacked him as a group and tried to strangle and kill him by grabbing his throat.

With great effort, other political prisoners were able to free her who was unconscious from the hired mercenaries and save her life.

According to an informed source, this beating was so severe that it was possible that Masoume Askari was strangled and killed by hired prisoners. This political prisoner has one child.

This source adds: “Despite the intense conflict and the death threat of Masoumeh Askari, none of the prison guards and prison officials who witnessed this scene did anything to save the life of this political prisoner. “Also, they told the political prisoners that they will kill Masoumeh.”

According to the same source: ” “This is a plan that the head of the prison made to kill Masoumeh Askari and ordered her hired prisoners to attack this political prisoner. If no one helps Masoumeh, they will kill her in this prison.”

Political prisoner Masoumeh Askari , after being exiled to Fardis Karaj prison (Kachooei), along with several other political prisoners, is incarcerated, contrary to the principle of separating crimes from ordinary prisoners.

In Fardis Karaj Prison, she faced mental and physical harassment and beatings by the prison officials and government-affiliated prisoners, and she was also beaten in June.

Political prisoner Masoumeh Askari has a child and is caretaker of the family. His son is now living without his mother.

Mrs. Askari is still under pressure and torture despite having various diseases including kidney disease and neurological diseases.

On the other hand, her leg was broken in several places and underwent surgery, and these were also added to her illnesses.

On August 2, 2018, this teacher and political prisoner was arrested by security agents during teachers’ protest gatherings and after being transferred to the women’s ward of Qarchak Varamin prison
was released a few days later.

Masoumeh Askari was arrested again in December 2018 and was interrogated for a month in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.

On February 18, 2020, Mrs. Askari was sentenced to 5 years in prison on charges of “gathering and colluding against national security” in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, the authorities of Evin prison summoned Mrs. Askari to meet with the head of the Evin prosecutor’s office, but instead of meeting, they transferred her to Fardis Karaj (Kachooei) prison.

Retired teacher and political prisoner Masoumeh Askari is under torture in Fardis Karaj prison, and her life is in danger.
