Masoud Jamei in limbo after 9 months of imprisonment

Masoud Jamei, suffering from stomach cancer, has been in limbo for 9 months in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz.

Masoud Jamei, suffering from stomach cancer, has been in limbo for 9 months in Sheiban Prison, Ahvaz.

Political prisoner Masoud Jamei has been in limbo in Sheiban Prison for more than 9 months. Despite suffering from stomach cancer, he is living under harsh conditions.

He was arrested on August 1, 2023, and several months after his arrest, his charges were announced to him on April 28.

Some of his charges are as follows:

  • Corruption on earth
  • Membership in the People’s Mujahedin Organization
  • Gathering and collusion with the intention of overthrowing the government…

Masoud Jamei is currently suffering from severe physical problems and no medical action has been taken for him so far. Some of his health problems are as follows:

  • Malignant stomach cancer
  • Fatty liver
(The high fat content of the liver is usually due to the inappropriate food in prison)
  • High blood pressure
  • Severe internal infection

Masoud Jamei, 47 years old, married with four children, from the people of Shakhkoopal village in Ahvaz county, was employed in the oil company for years before his arrest.

The inhumane conditions prevailing in Shiban Ahvaz Prison

Before this, the Iranian Human Rights Society had revealed, based on the reports received from Shiban Ahvaz Prison, that the authorities of this prison are preparing the silent death of political prisoners.

Additionally, more than 70 political prisoners are held in solitary confinement in Ward 5 of Shiban Ahvaz Prison. These prisoners have faced long-term detention and have developed various illnesses due to the harsh prison conditions and mistreatment.

Shiban Prison, Ahvaz

Unfortunately, authorities have unlawfully prevented them from receiving proper medical care outside the prison3. The situation in Shiban Ahvaz Prison remains dire, and Masoud Jamali’s health continues to deteriorate.

By illegally opposing the sending of prisoners to medical centers outside Shiban prison for treatment, the prison authorities are actually preparing their silent death.

There is illegal opposition to the treatment of political prisoners in Shiban Prison by the prison authorities and security institutions, while this prison lacks minimal facilities and equipment for medical treatment.
