At midnight, protesters gathered in front of Gohardasht prison to prevent the execution of Mohammad Boroughani and Mohammad Ghobadlou.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, protesting people gathered in front of Gohardasht prison in the early hours of Monday, January 9, 2023. And by chanting anti-government slogans calling for the cancellation of the death sentence of Mohammad Boroughani and Mohammad Ghobadlou, two of the arrested persons, started nationwide protests.
The slogans of the people gathering in front of Gohardasht prison were:
I will kill whoever my brother killed
If you execute, there will be a rebellion, this is the last message
For every person killed, a thousand people are behind him
This year will be the year of the overthrow of Seyyed Ali
Mohammad Boroughani should be freed
Be afraid, be afraid, we are all together
On Sunday, January 8, 2023, two of the detainees of the nationwide protests, Mohammad Boroughani and Mohammad Ghobadlou, transferred to solitary cell in Gohardasht prison to carry out the death sentence.
The families of these two prisoners called to meet their children for the last time.
Midnight gathering to save nationwide protesters
Mohammad Boroughani is only nineteen years old. He arrested in Pakdasht during nation-wide uprising of Iranian people and sentenced to death. On charges of “setting fire to the Governor building of Pakdasht and assaulting a government official”. His death sentence was confirmed by the Supreme Court.
22-year-old Mohammad Ghobadlou, son of Mohammad Ali. Is one of those arrested in the 2022 nationwide protests. He has been accused of ” corruption on earth (Moharebeh). through extensive action against police officers by hitting a car and killing Sergeant major Farid Karampour Hassanvand and injuring 5 other repressive agents.”
