Mohammad Mehdi Vosoghian, a young man who was following up on his imprisoned mother arrested
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 2:00 pm, security forces attacked the home of Mohammad Mehdi Vosoghianin Golpayegan. They arrested him with beatings and transferred him to an unknown location. Mohammad Mehdi Vosoghian, 20 years old, a student of intelligence and deputy secretary of the Medical Sciences University Guild Council in Isfahan, is the son of Masoumeh Yavari, one of the recent detainees. Mrs. Yavari arrested at her home in Golpayegan on September 4, 2023.
According to an informed source: “After his mother’s arrest, Mohammad Mehdi was constantly following up on her situation. He had visited the prison several times to give his sick mother medicine and returned home without any results.”
Mohammad Mehdi Vosoghian previously suspended for one semester with a disciplinary record by the university’s disciplinary committee and deprived of dormitory by the committee. His mother, Masoumeh Yavari, transferred to the Dolatabad prison in Isfahan after a home search. She accused of propaganda against the regime.
Mrs. Yavari sufferings from heart disease
Mrs. Yavari suffers from heart disease, diabetes, and a herniated disc and has no mobility. She has been under pressure during interrogation. She underwent surgery for her herniated disc and is unable to endure long interrogations and prison conditions.
Masoumeh Yavari, born in 1978, is a housewife and mother of two children. Prior to this, she imprisoned for three years in Evin, Gohardasht, and Qarchak Varamin prisons in 2009 for participating in the protests of that year and having connections with the Mujahidin. Initially, she accused of being a combatant (Moharebeh) by the court. However, after a while, she was acquitted and sentenced to seven years in prison. She released from prison after three years.
