Osman Mameh arrested on Friday, November 18, 2022, while returning home and in connection with protests in the city of Boukan. He was shot by security forces during his arrest.”
“Osman Mameh’s wife also shot by these agents and currently has more than 50 pellets in her head. Medical staff said that if the pellets remove, she is at risk of paralysis.”

The probability of the killing of Osman Mameh by security forces
“Security forces have threatened Osman Mameh’s son and told him that he does not have the right to interview with the media or follow up on his father’s fate. Due to the lack of response from security agencies and no news or phone calls from Osman, the family suspects that he tortured and killed. The lack of response from these agencies to Osman’s family is only for the purpose of psychological torture.”
Osman Mameh, a 55-year-old married man, was working in a poultry farm before arrested in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
Intensification of repression and enforced disappearance
In April 2023, Amnesty International addressed the escalation of suppression and violence against religious and ethnic minorities in a report. The organization stated that security forces, under the orders of government leaders, continued organized disappearances and torture against protesters and opponents of the government.
