After the conflict and fire, situation of political prisoners in Evin prison is critical and sometimes dangerous
Iranian Human Rights Society, October 17, 2022. After 24 hours of fighting and fire, situation of prisoners, especially political prisoners in Evin prison is worrying.
In the massive conflict and fire on Sunday, October 16, security agents, in addition to using tear gas and shotguns and war bullets. They also took prisoners to the compound and severely beat them, so that many prisoners’ heads, arms and legs broken.
After this tragedy, some prisoners taken to hospital. The prisoners of Ward 7, who were about 1400 people, taken to the prison club (a large hall) which is close to the main door and the administrative building. Among them the bodies of the dead (they removed the dead later).
And the rest of prisoners were under continuous pressure and Prisoners not cared for in hospital, and only a few antibiotic pills given to some of them.

The situation of remaining political prisoners in Evin prison is critical and they deprived of any care and even water and food.
An informed source told the Iranian Human Rights Society: “Yashar Tabrizi broke his leg with the blows he received. Also, Seyyed Javad Hosseini was first taken to the hospital, but due to the large number of injured people, he was returned to prison without any treatment. While his leg was shot and he was bleeding, he left unattended in this condition. “Mahmoudi”, head of Ward Eight, told him: “We will not treat you, it is better for you to die!”.
The other wounded only given ointment and not even bullets removed from their bodies.
There is no information available about the condition of many prisoners.
Also, the government media announced the number of dead people first as 4 people and then as 8 people, but reports indicate that the number of people killed was much higher.
