The death sentence of Tawheed Darvishi imprisoned in Tabriz prison has been verbally informed to his family. Head of branch handling the case kicked the family out of branch with insults.
Iranian Human Rights Society November 5; Hangaw organization reported. 27-year-old Tawheed Darvishi, a resident of Gernavik village, Ghatour district (Khoi district), Without having a lawyer and enjoying the minimum rights of a prisoner, he was sentenced to death. And this sentence has been verbally informed to his family.
Tawheed Darvishi is 27 years old, married and father of two children. He was arrested on Saturday, October 15, 2022, during nationwide protests in Tabriz.
In this report, quoting informed sources, it is stated: “Tawheed Darvishi is the driver (of a passenger car). On the day of his arrest, while his car was turned off in the street and he was buying a gallon of gasoline. He was arrested and beaten by government forces.
According to this report, head of the branch handling case of Tawheed Darvishi. Following the verbal notification of death sentence to his family (without completing the legal procedures). Disrespected and threatened them and kicked them out of the branch.
An informed source told the Iranian Human Rights Society:(Tawheed Darvishi is currently imprisoned in Tabriz Central Prison)
“The judge did not allow Tawheed’s family to get a lawyer. And because his family is illiterate and very poor, they could not do anything for him.”
Tawheed Darvishi is currently imprisoned in Tabriz Central Prison. And is under a lot of pressure in terms of his mental state.
Hengaw also announced that Tawheed Darvishi is subjected to severe physical and mental torture since his arrest. And, he did not have the minimum rights of a prisoner.
About nationwide protests
The recent nationwide protests started with the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old girl from Saqqez. On the evening of September 14, 2022, she was arrested near the Haqqani metro station by the Irshad patrol(mortality Police ) on the pretext of not wearing a hijab. And she died due to blows to her head in Kasri Hospital.
These protests started from that time and going on for 48 days so far. In these protests, people are demanding the overthrow of the ruling system and the establishment of security, freedom, and democracy.
During these protests, more than 300 people, including 40 children, have died. And more than 20,000 people have been arrested (according to the government’s statistics).
