According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Thursday, February 1, 2024, Hymen Shahi and six other detainees of the nationwide uprising, despite the passage of 16 months in uncertainty, will tried.

On the 26th of February 2024, another session will hold on the case of Hymen Shahi, Farzad and Farhad Taha Zadeh, Faryad Hamzeh Shour, Reza Eslamdoost and Shahram Marouf Mola in the third branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia.

Political prisoner Hymen Shahi (Caravan Shahi) accused of “waging war by setting fire to public property”, “corruption on earth”. And “disrupting public order”. These charges will be dealt with in this court session.

The charges of six other political prisoners

The charges of six other political prisoners from the detainees of the nationwide uprising of 2022, Farzad and Farhad Taha Zadeh, Faryad Hamzeh Shour, Reza Eslamdoost and Shahram Marouf Mola are also “waging war and corruption on earth” in this court.

These seven political prisoners currently kept in Urmia Central Prison indefinitely. In early November 2023, the Revolutionary Court of Urmia ruled in favor of the acquittal of Caravan Shahi, Farzad and Farhad Taha Zadeh, Faryad Hamzeh Shour, Reza Eslamdoost and Shahram Marouf Mola from the charges of “waging war and corruption on earth”. But the prosecutor of Urmia objected to this verdict and caused the case to be reopened.

In December 2023, after the prosecutor of Urmia objected to the acquittal of these seven political prisoners from the charge of “waging war and corruption on earth”, their case referred to the Urmia Provincial Court of Appeal.

About political prisoner Hymen Shahi from the detainees of the nationwide uprising of 2022

In the first session’s trial, Hymen Shahi (Caravan) accused of waging war and corruption on earth in Urmia Central Prison. Hymen Shahi (Caravan) is 23 years old, married and has a 3-month-old child. He recently lost his father and took over the family.

He worked as a laborer in the summers and as a baker’s apprentice in the fall to support his family. Hymen Shahi, a native of Oshnavieh, arrested in October 2022, in the turmoil of the nationwide uprising in Oshnavieh.

The charges brought against him in the first session’s trial by Revolutionary Court of Urmia were “assembly and collusio. And also.action against internal security, waging war, corruption on earth, disrupting public order. Also participating in deliberate arson and destruction of government property, Bank Sepah and Welfare and rebellion against agents during duty”

After the recent court session, the family of political prisoner Caravan Shahi very worried about the uncertainty of their son. They waiting for their son’s release for 14 months. And are not in good mental condition due to his uncertain situation in prison.

About the nationwide uprising of 2022

It started on September 16, 2022 and lasted for months. In this anti-government uprising, a large number of people arrested. And transferred to detention centers and prisons in various cities of Iran. Also, more than seven hundred people killed in this uprising by security forces.

An uprising that began on September 16, 2022, after the martyrdom of Mahsa Amini by the repressive patrol agents on the pretext of bad hijab in Tehran. And continued with the widespread and several-month presence of the people.

An uprising that started with a protest against the repression of the Guidance Patrol against Iranian women, but quickly targeted the whole system and shouted the overthrow of Khamenei in every city and street.

Uprising that involved all classes, professions and nationalities of the Iranian people and showed that they are seeking to overthrow this system and establish a free Iran and a popular sovereignty.

An uprising that was on fire every day and night in the streets and rooftops for more than 6 months and was undoubtedly the longest and most widespread uprising against the dictatorial rule of the Supreme Leader in the past 45 years.
