Vahid Chavaran’s family gathered in front of Abdanan governorate to protest against his continued detention.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Saturday, September 9, 2023, the family of Vahid Chavaran, who had previously gone on a hunger strike in protest against his arrest, gathered and protested in front of Abdanan Governorate.
Vahid Chavaran, from Abdanan, was arrested on Friday, June 23, 2023, while leaving the country, and after some time, he was transferred to the detention center of the Ilam Intelligence Department. After his arrest, he was tortured and forced to confess against himself in front of the camera. After some time, he was transferred to Ilam Central Prison.
Previously, in April 2023, the intelligence agents tried to arrest him by raiding his house, but they failed.
He started a hunger strike once in June and again on September 3, 2023, in protest against the torture in the Ilam Intelligence Detention Center and the continuation of his detention in the Ilam Central Prison.
Since his arrest, he has been denied the right to access a lawyer and visit his family.
