Violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with the Death Penalty

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) guarantees the fundamental rights of all human beings regardless of race, color, gender, language, religion, political or other opinions, national or social origin, property, birth, or any other status.
Article 3 of the UDHR explicitly states: “Everyone has the right to life.” This right cannot be deprived except by a lawful court sentence based on a crime defined by law.
The death penalty, as the highest form of punishment, directly contradicts this article because:
- **Right to Life: ** The death penalty violates the fundamental and inalienable right to life.
- **Irreversibility: ** Once a death sentence carried out, any judicial errors cannot be rectified.
- **Torture and Inhuman Treatment: ** Certain methods of execution considered forms of torture or cruel and inhuman treatment, which further violates the provisions of the UDHR.
