Due to the pollution of the environment and water in the Sheyban prison of Ahvaz, which is supplied from the sewage water of the Karun River, this political prisoner has contracted the skin disease of scabies and his whole body is wounded and bloody due to severe itching.
Continuous and intense skin itching has caused blood clots in his hands and eyes, which does not allow him to rest for a moment.
Despite the insistence of specialist doctors for periodical medical leave for heart surgery, the interrogator and the Ministry of intelligence preventing him from taking leave and transferring to hospital for heart surgery.
According to informed sources, Mehran Gharabaghi has been suffering from these diseases for 8 months after being transferred to Sheyban prison in Ahvaz. However, according to the Ministry of intelligence and interrogator, he is intentionally deprived his access to any medicine and treatment.
Since the morning of Wednesday, August 17, Mehran Gharabaghi has been suffering from nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, severe fever and chills due to the corona virus and is in critical condition.
Political prisoner Mehran Gharabaghi was sentenced to 2 years in prison in 2018. His 2-year sentence has ended, and he has been in prison for 34 months under temporary detention. However, according to the order of the Ministry of intelligence, they prevent him from being released on bail until the assignment of the next case is decided.

Political prisoner Mehran Gharabaghi, 29 years old, from Sarhad Agha village, Behbahan county, has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. On January 18, 2020, he was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents and after about 1 month, he was transferred to Behbahan prison after the interrogation process was over.
The accusations of this political prisoner include propagating against the regime, membership in the People’s Mojahedin organization and communication with the People’s Mojahedin organization’s news channels, Participation in destruction and arson, participation in disruption of public order, participation in the manufacture of civilian incendiary materials and corruption in the land were announced.
On May 30, 2022, the political prisoner Mehran Gharabaghi was connected to Mahshahr branch of the Revolutionary Court from Ahvaz Central Prison through video conference. But his and Majid Khademi’s trial was postponed to another time due to legal problems.
In previous case, Mehran Gharabaghi sentenced to 3 years in prison by Revolutionary Court on charges such as “insulting Khamenei and propagandizing against regime”, of which 2 years have ended.
The Mahshahr court previously set a bail of 3 billion tomans for the release of Mehran Gharabaghi, so that he would be released until the date of the final assignment of the case, but according to the order of the intelligence, his release was opposed even with the payment of the bail.
