Execution 11 Prisoners in Qezel Hesar, Zahedan, and Mashhad Prisons in Iran
From the beginning of November, at least 75 prisoners executed in Iran, averaging nearly four executions per day. On Wednesday, November 6, 2024. 11 prisoners executed across the prisons of Ghezel Hesar (Karaj), Zahedan, and Mashhad. according to the Iran according to the Iran Human Rights Society.
Execution of a Prisoner in Jiroft Prison
At dawn on Tuesday, Arif Kamali, a prisoner in Jiroft, executed. Kamali, son of Mohammad and a resident of Jiroft, sentenced to death seven years ago for murder.
Execution of Another Prisoner in Hamedan Prison
The number of executions in Hamedan reached two with the execution of 38-year-old Hamed Mehraban. Arrested six years ago on charges of murder, Mehraban was sentenced to death following his conviction.
The Iran Human Rights Society had previously reported the execution of Dariush Saeedi, a 31-year-old detained on murder charges and sentenced to death. Saeedi’s medical file noted psychiatric disorders, and he had been hospitalized twice in a psychiatric facility during his time in prison.

Execution of Five Prisoners in Yazd, Jiroft, and Hamedan Prisons
In an early morning execution on November 4, 2024, four prisoners executed in the prisons of Hamedan, Kahnuj, and Shiraz. One of them, Dariush Saeedi, a 32-year-old from Hamedan, detained five years ago following a fatal group altercation and subsequently sentenced to death.
Transfer of 4 Prisoners to Solitary Confinement in Prisons of Yazd and Saqqez
On Sunday, November 4, 2023, three Baluch prisoners transferred to solitary confinement in Yazd prison for the execution of their sentences. One of these prisoners, Mohsen Nezhaadi Moghaddam (Sabki), 30 years old, son of Hossein, married with two children, from the city of Rigān, was among them.
Another prisoner, named Jahangir Rahimi (Muslim), transferred to solitary confinement in Saqqez prison. He arrested on charges of murder and sentenced to execution.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an important international document that guarantees the fundamental and basic rights of all human beings, regardless of race, color, sex, language, religion, political opinion, or any other status such as national or social origin, property, birth, or other conditions.
Article 3 of this declaration explicitly states: “Everyone has the right to life. This right shall be protected by law and shall not be subject to arbitrary deprivation, except in accordance with a final judgment by a competent court in the case of a crime that is punishable by law.”
The Death Penalty as the Highest Punishment is Directly in Conflict with This Article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, for the Following Reasons:
- Right to Life: The right to life considered a fundamental and inalienable right. The death penalty violates this right by taking away the right to life.
- Irreversibility: Once the death penalty is carried out, there is no possibility of correcting judicial errors, which makes it irreversible.
- Torture and Inhuman Treatment: Some methods of carrying out the death penalty are considered torture and inhuman treatment, which is in direct contradiction with the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
