Arrest of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi by Security Forces

Reports indicate that Sheikh Zahed Shahabi, one of the religious figures of the city of Saqqez, has been arrested with violence by security forces and transferred to an unknown location.

Iran Human Rights Society, Saturday, March 14, 2026 – In continuation of the increase in arrests in recent days, reports indicate the violent arrest of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi, one of the religious figures of the city of Saqqez, by security institutions. According to sources close to his family, this arrest was carried out with severe violence, and afterward, his family home was also searched.

Arrest of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi by Security Forces

According to published reports, Sheikh Zahed Shahabi, one of the Kurdish religious activists from Saqqez, has been arrested by security forces. It is said that this arrest took place in a location outside his home and workplace. Sources close to this religious activist have announced that security forces arrested him and immediately transferred him to an unknown location. So far, no information about his place of detention has been published.

According to these sources, the arrest of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi was accompanied by severe violence. Reports show that security forces, after arresting him, proceeded to search his family home.

Violent Search of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi’s Family Home

According to sources close to the family, security forces, after arresting Sheikh Zahed Shahabi, raided his family home. These forces searched all rooms and items in the home. Reports indicate that this search was carried out in a violent manner. According to the same sources, after the security forces left, the condition of the home was severely chaotic. This source emphasized that family members, due to the created situation and also the threats made by security forces, were forced to leave the home.

Lack of News on the Situation and Place of Detention of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi

Several days after the arrest of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi, no information about his place of detention has been published yet. His family and relatives have announced that they have not received any response about his situation so far. According to these sources, the charges brought against this religious activist have also not been announced. This very issue has increased concerns about his situation. In such conditions, the family and friends of Sheikh Zahed Shahabi are still trying to find out about his fate and place of detention.

  • Violation of the right to privacy – Article 12 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Violent search of the family home and threats to family members can be contrary to the right to immunity from arbitrary interference in private life.
