A week waiting in solitary cell for execution. Two Baloch prisoners executed in Zahedan Prison
After a week of waiting, two Baloch prisoners were executed in Zahedan prison. These two prisoners were transferred to solitary cell a week ago and were awaiting the execution of the death sentence
The Iranian Human Rights Society quoted his current situation; Dawn on Saturday, the 3rd of December 24, 2022. Two Baloch prisoners named Elias Raisi and Ayoub Rigi were executed in Zahedan prison on charges of murder.
Ayoub Rigi, 37 years old, was the son of Dad Mohammad, married and living in Zahedan. And Elias Raisi , 28 years old, the son of Ayar and living in Jalek, Saravan.
According to this report, Ayoub was arrested in 2019 on charges of murder on the way from Zahedan to Kerman . And was sentenced to death by the Zahedan Criminal Court.
Elias Raisi was also arrested in 2020 on charges of murder and sentenced to death by the Zahedan Criminal Court.
Ayoub and Elias have been in solitary confinement in Zahedan prison for a week since December 16, waiting and anxious for the execution of the death sentence.
Increasing the executions number
Including execution of these two Baloch prisoners, at least 517 people executed since beginning of the current Iranian year 1401. And 611 people have been executed since the beginning of this year, which is a shocking and unprecedented number. This is while many death sentences are carried out secretly and are not published or announced anywhere. Therefore, the actual number of executions is higher than this number.
Yesterday, Iranian Human Rights Society published a report on the number of executions in the past month. Which amounted to at least 79 executions.
We remind you that the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran accused the Iranian government officials of launching a new campaign to execute prisoners.
