Amnesty International has asked the Iranian authorities to immediately stop any action for implementing the execution sentences

Amnesty International has asked the Iranian authorities to immediately stop any action for implementing the execution sentences

Amnesty International by publishing a statement warned about the danger of implementing execution sentences for a number of political and ideological prisoners in Iran and called on the global community to take action to immediately stop the executions and cancel the sentences issued against political prisoners.

Iran Human Rights Society, Saturday 13 June 2026 – Amnesty International by expressing severe concern about the situation of political prisoners sentenced to execution in Iran, announced that dozens of protesters, political opponents and ideological prisoners are in danger of implementing execution sentences. This human rights organization has specifically warned about the situation of Masoud Jamei, Alireza Mardasi, Farshad Etemadifar, Reza Abdoli and Hassan Mosalavi and demanded the immediate stop of any plans for implementing their sentences.

About which prisoners has Amnesty International warned?

In the published statement, Amnesty International has asked the Iranian authorities to immediately stop any action for implementing the execution sentence of Masoud Jamei, Alireza Mardasi, Farshad Etemadifar, Reza Abdoli and Hassan Mosalavi.

This organization has announced that these prisoners are currently being held in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz and face serious danger of implementing execution sentences.

Amnesty International has emphasized that the concerns about the situation of these prisoners are not only due to the issuance of execution sentences, but also the manner of judicial handling of their cases has been accompanied by serious legal and human rights criticisms.

Why does Amnesty International consider these trials unfair?

Based on the Amnesty International report, Masoud Jamei, Alireza Mardasi, Reza Abdoli and Farshad Etemadifar in the year 2025 were sentenced to execution by the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court.

The basis of these sentences has been titled as their alleged connection with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. Amnesty International has announced that the process of handling these cases has been distant from fair trial standards and these individuals have faced the death penalty in an unfair trial.

This organization has also expressed concern about the situation of Hassan Mosalavi. According to Amnesty International, Hassan Mosalavi is also facing the danger of implementing the execution sentence after a trial that has been described as extremely unfair. The Supreme Court in the year 2025 confirmed the sentence issued against him.

Why has the situation of political prisoners attracted attention?

Four of the prisoners whose names are mentioned in the Amnesty International statement are from Khuzestan citizens. Human rights organizations in the past years have repeatedly expressed concern about the situation of activists and Arab citizens in Khuzestan province.

Amnesty International has emphasized that ethnic and religious minorities in Iran in numerous cases have faced security treatments, judicial case fabrications and heavy sentences and this issue doubles the necessity of independent monitoring of the process of handling their cases.

What is the physical condition of Masoud Jamei?

One of the main axes of Amnesty International’s warning is the health situation of Masoud Jamei.

Based on the published information, this prisoner suffers from serious illnesses including stomach cancer and liver disorders. Amnesty International has announced that he has been deprived of sufficient access to specialized medical services in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz.

This organization has also described the conditions of Sheiban Prison as unsuitable, crowded and lacking sufficient facilities and has warned that the continuation of treatment deprivation can put the health and life of this prisoner in even more danger.

What does Amnesty International say about the wave of executions?

Amnesty International in its statement has announced that dozens of protesters, political opponents and ideological prisoners are still facing the danger of execution.

This human rights organization has also claimed that since the beginning of the war on 28 February, at least 42 executions with political nature have been carried out in Iran. According to Amnesty International, the death penalty is still used as a tool to create fear, silence opposing voices and intensify the repression atmosphere.

Human rights organizations for years have been warning about the increase in issuing execution sentences for political prisoners and demanding the stop of this trend.

What action can the global community take?

Amnesty International has asked the member countries of the United Nations to use all available diplomatic and political tools to prevent the implementation of execution sentences.

This organization has asked governments to exert more pressure for the immediate stop of all planned executions, cancellation of issued execution sentences and creation of an official suspension on the implementation of the death penalty.

Amnesty International has emphasized that the final goal should be moving towards the complete abolition of the death penalty and ending the use of this punishment in political and security cases.

Concerns about the future of prisoners sentenced to execution

The new statement of Amnesty International has been published in conditions where concerns about the fate of political prisoners sentenced to execution have increased. Human rights activists believe that the continuation of issuing and implementing execution sentences against political opponents has intensified the repression atmosphere and put the lives of dozens of prisoners in danger.

Meanwhile, the families of prisoners sentenced to execution and human rights institutions have demanded the immediate intervention of the global community to prevent the implementation of these sentences.

Amnesty International also at the end of its statement has once again emphasized that the implementation of execution sentences against political and ideological prisoners must be immediately stopped and Iranian authorities should take the path of complete abolition of the death penalty; a demand that according to this organization can be an important step towards respecting the fundamental rights of humans and preventing the violation of the right to life.
