“Political prisoner Aslam Sedighi suicide in protest against the prison conditions.”
Aslam Sedighi, became a human rights activist in the year 2022. After the bloody Friday in Zahedan, Khash, and other cities of Sistan and Baluchistan province, and tried to clarify this matter.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, a political prisoner from Baloch committed suicide in protest against the pressure from security forces in prison.
The political prisoner’s name was Aslam Sedighi. He arrested on December 11, 2022, on charges of propaganda against the system. And also collaboration with foreign media in Iranshahr by security forces.
Aslam Sedighi was a 23-year-old son of Islam and a resident of Iranshahr city. He was active on social media under the name of “Esok Iranshahr.” After the bloody Friday in Zahedan, Khash, and other cities of Sistan and Baluchestan province in 2022, Islam Sadighi took action to raise awareness about the situation. Security forces identified him and arrested him.
His family threatened after Aslam Sedighi’s arrest.
The accusation against him is his activities on social media against the government and also collaboration with foreign media. “After the security forces arrested him, they put pressure on his family to prevent them from publishing the case in media.” Due to his family’s silence, no news published about Islam Sadighi’s detention in this regard after 10 months.
According to family reports, they inquired about his health by visiting the prison and court, but they received no clear answer. The news of his suicide has also been conveyed by his cellmates outside the prison. They said that Islam had cut his wrist veins with a knife in an attempt to commit suicide.
The reason for the suicide of Aslam Sadighi was the nervous pressure caused by the difficult conditions of his detention. And also uncertainty after 10 months of detention without charge in ward 9. The Iranian Human Rights Society expresses concern about the situation of detainees in the government’s horrific prisons. And also calls on human rights organizations and agencies to protest and use all possible means to stop the government’s criminal actions. And use all means to save the lives of prisoners and detainees.
