Bandar Abbas, Dastgerd of Isfahan, and Central Prison of Karaj. Three prisoners executed / the families of the prisoners not allowed to meet them for the last time
Bandar Abbas, Dastgerd of Isfahan, and Karaj Central Prison, three prisoners were executed on charges of drugs and murder
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Monday, January 9 and Thursday, January 5, 2023, at least three prisoners were executed in the central prisons of Karaj, Bandar Abbas, and Dastgerd, Isfahan, on charges of drug possession and murder.
On Sunday, January 8, 2023, Rashid Lawandpour, along with 7 other prisoners sentenced to death, was transferred to solitary confinement from hall 2 of Karaj Central Prison.
Rashid Lawandpour, 27 years old, was executed after 5 years in prison for drug possession.
His family was not allowed to see their son for the last time. The family of this prisoner, along with a number of other prisoners’ families, spent the night in front of Karaj Central Prison.
There is no information about the status of the other 7 prisoners who were transferred to solitary confinement in the central prison of Karaj.
One prisoner executed in Bandar Abbas
According to the Iranian Human Rights Organization, at dawn on Monday, January 9, 2023. A prisoner named Khalegh Khizirzadeh, son of Omar, a resident of Piranshahr, was executed in Bandar Abbas prison.
He was also arrested on drug charges and has been in this prison for three years, awaiting execution.
According to another report, on the morning of Thursday, January 5. A prisoner named Abolfazl Helvai (Sadatian) was executed in Dastgerd prison on charges of murder.
Including these executions, at least 32 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons in 19 days. Among those who were executed, two political prisoners were executed from those detained during nationwide protests in Iran.
