Child Offender Executed in Sabzevar
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Friday the 24rd of November 2023. A Child Offender named Hamidreza Azari executed in Sabzevar prison.
He was 17 years and 3 months old and a few months ago in May 2023, arrested on charge of murder.
Hamidreza Azari accused of killing a young man in a conflict on May 11, 2023.
Confirming the death sentence of this prisoner done in the circumstances that only seven months passed since his arrest. The judicial branch quickly started this case and issued the death sentence of the child criminal Hamidreza Azari. And this also approved it by the Supreme Court.
Despite the ban on executions of offenders under the age of 18 in the Declaration of Human Rights, Iran’s rulers executed six juvenile offenders who committed crimes between the ages of 14 and 17.
While international conventions such as the rights of the child set the age of criminal punishment for both sexes to be 18, the Islamic Republic of Iran has set the age of criminal punishment for boys 15 and 9 for girls.
