Dawood Abdullahi, the religious-political prisoner of Sunni executed in GHezelHesar prison
Report of the Iranian Human Rights Society, Tuesday, January 2, 2024. The religious-political prisoner of Ahl al-Sunnah Dawood Abdullahi executed in indeterminate state after 14 years of imprisonment. It is said that he started a hunger strike since the date of his transfer to prison quarantine. Also, in November and December of this year, the death sentence of two of his casemates, Ghasem Abesteh and Ayoub Karimi, executed in GhezelHesar prison.
Dawood Abdullahi is a Sunni and lives in Mahabad. On December 7, 2009, he along with 6 other Sunni compatriots named Ayoub Karimi, Ghasem Abeste, Farhad Salimi, Anwar Khezri. Also, Khosro Basharat, Kamran Sheikhe arrested by the security forces.
Interrogation and torture for 8 months.
Mr. Abdullahi and six of his co-accused arrested in a fake case of the Ministry of Intelligence on the charge of murdering Abdul Rahim Tina, the Friday imam of the Khalfa Rashidin Mahabad mosque. Their accusations were Moharebeh and “corruption on earth”, “action against national security”, “propaganda against the system”, “membership in Salafi groups”.
The prisoners denied the charges and said that they were arrested only because of their beliefs and activities such as participating in religious meetings and broadcasting religious materials. According to the prisoners, they also subjected to mental and physical torture during interrogation. The reason for the torture was to make them confess to the charges they did not commit.
In March 2016, Dawood Abdullahi sentenced to death by the 28th branch of the Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Moghiseh. In June 2018, the 15th branch of the Revolutionary Court, headed by Judge Salavati, sentenced him to death again on the charge of “corruption in the land”. Mr. Abdullahi imprisoned for 14 years in Urmia Intelligence Detention Center, Evin Prison, Gohardasht Prison, and GhezelHesar Prison.
