Families of death row inmates attacked and beaten
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Sunday, November 19, 2023, a group of families of prisoners sentenced to death in GhezelHesar prison held a protest rally in protest of widespread and indiscriminate executions.
The families of the prisoners called for the cancellation of the death sentence of their loved ones with the slogan “Do not execute”. In this gathering, children had this writing in their hands. “Don’t execute my father”.
According to a reliable source, they planned to gather in front of Tehran’s judiciary to follow up and protest the unjust and cruel sentences of their loved ones. The families had first gathered in the Revolution Square when they were attacked and beaten.
Security officers arrested several members of the family and also took them to an unknown location.
“They have started executing drug defendants again,” said a source from the families of death row prisoners. Every Wednesday, 5 to 10 people executed. Families gathered in front of the judiciary to protest. Please be our voice. They are doing execution in a hurry again. The executions halted for four months. Unfortunately, it’s been two months since they started again. »
It should be noted that in October 81 prisoners and also in November more than 100 prisoners executed in Iran’s prisons, a high percentage of those executed are related to GhezelHesar prison in Karaj.
