Including two executions in Hamadan Central Prison, at least 10 prisoners were executed in Iranian prisons last week.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, after the execution of two prisoners in Hamedan Central Prison, at least 10 prisoners accused of murder and drugs were executed in Iran’s prisons last week.
On Tuesday, August 29, 2023, two prisoners were executed in Hamedan Central Prison. The names of these two prisoners were Hamed Sargazi and Ismail Hajizadeh. These two prisoners were arrested in 2020 on drug-related charges and sentenced to death.
Including these two people, at least 10 prisoners were executed in Iran’s prisons last week. It is clear that this statistic is not accurate due to censorship in Iran. The vast majority of executions in Iranian prisons are not announced by the government media.
In order to increase repression and preserve the authority of the judiciary, the judiciary kills prisoners under the pretext of executing the death sentence. Since the beginning of 1402 AD, the execution of death sentences in Iranian prisons has accelerated and intensified.
