Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani, a political prisoner incarcerated in Tehran Great Prison, was sentenced to six years in prison by the Tehran Revolutionary Court; a ruling issued in continuation of security case-building against this political prisoner.
Iran Human Rights Society, Wednesday May 6, 2026 – Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani, political prisoner and former futsal referee, was sentenced to six years in prison by Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. The ruling for Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani was issued while reports indicate court sessions held under security pressure, absence of the chosen lawyer, and continuation of judicial actions against him due to his protest activities.
Details of the Ruling Issued for Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani

Based on the ruling issued by Branch 23 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court and notified to Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani on April 28, 2026, he was sentenced to five years in prison on the charge of “assembly and collusion against national security.”
Also, for Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani, one additional year in prison was considered on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”
Based on Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, out of the total six years of prison issued, the harsher punishment, meaning five years in prison, will be executable.
Arrest of Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani During the Nationwide Protests of 1404
Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani was arrested on January 3, 2026 during the nationwide protests. Based on published reports, his arrest took place in front of Alaeddin Passage in Tehran.
After the arrest, Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani was transferred to a detention center and then to Tehran Great Prison. He is currently being held in Unit 1, Section 6 of Tehran Great Prison.
Arrest Due to Carrying a Protest Placard
Based on available information, Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani had also been arrested on April 26, 2025 due to carrying a protest placard on Revolution Street in Tehran.
This protest action led to his arrest and transfer to one of the security centers. Sources close to the case have stated that the arrest of Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani was carried out in direct connection with his protest activities and critical positions.
Indictment in the Security Prosecutor’s Office

On April 28, 2025, Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani was indicted in Branch 3 of District 33 Prosecutor’s Office in Tehran.
The charges brought against him were stated as including “propaganda against the regime” and “insulting Khamenei.”
After the indictment, the judicial proceedings for Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani’s case continued in the security branches of the Revolutionary Court.
Holding of the Court Under Security Pressure
The session for reviewing Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani’s case was held on June 10, 2025 in Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court presided over by Judge Iman Afshari.
Informed sources have reported that Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani had previously refused to attend his court session several times. However, he was eventually present in the court session through forced transfer. Based on these reports, the review session was held without the presence of the chosen lawyer and the trial process was under pressure from security forces.
History of Conviction and Exile of Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani
Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani had also faced other judicial and security cases previously.
In another case, he had been sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court to 15 months of ta’ziri imprisonment and two years of exile to Saravan County. The charge stated in that case was announced as “insulting Khamenei.”
The repeated issuance of prison and exile rulings against Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani indicates the continuation of judicial pressure on him due to his protest and political activities.
Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani; From Futsal Refereeing to Prison
Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani, born in 1361 (1982-1983), is a former futsal referee.
His arrest and conviction in recent years have caused his name to be placed among known political prisoners. Hamid Haj Jafar Kashani’s case is one of the examples of security confrontation with protesters against the existing situation.
