4 hours of torture along with the assault on the anonymous political prisoner Hossein Salehi in the Shiban prison of Ahvaz
Political prisoner Hossein Salehi severely beaten with a green pipe and assaulted by prison officials in Sheiban prison in Ahvaz.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Tuesday, January 17, 2024. Hossein Salehi, a political prisoner, is one of the detainees of the 2022 nationwide uprising and imprisoned in Shiban prison in Ahvaz. He severely tortured for 4 hours in solitary confinement while handcuffed, blindfolded and assaulted by prison agants.
According to reports: “Not long ago, Hossein Salehi put in solitary confinement. He beaten and when he asked for water. Some prison agents took him out of the cell and beat him severely.
They called him rude words and tortured him with pipes. And also cursing and kicking him continuously for 4 hours. While he was blindfolded, handcuffed, and bound, they pulled a bag over his head and beat him severely.
At the same time, they assaulted him immorally with a stick and a green pipe, so that he fainted. They poured water on his head so that he regained consciousness. The agent who assaulted him identified as A.R.”
Based on this report, he suffers from psychological and physical consequences of the torture he endured. So much so that despite several months passing, he still feels unwell when he remembers the torture and seeks help from his loved ones.
A summary of Hossein Salehi’s process
Hossein Salehi, 25 years old, from Kut Abdollah, Ahvaz, arrested on December 5, 2022, during the nationwide protests. He deprived of choosing lawyer and assigned a state-appointed lawyer.
Hossein Salehi sentenced by Branch 3 of the Revolutionary Court in Ahvaz to 10 years of imprisonment. And also 5 years of suspended imprisonment on charges of “disturbing public order,” “membership in the Mujahedin-e Khalq organization,”. And also “propaganda against the regime,” and “forming a group that has disrupted the country’s security.”
Hossein Salehi has been suffering from a neurological and psychological illness, and due to the torture he has endured in prison, he is experiencing the consequences of this illness. However, despite his condition, he kept in prison and not released.
It is worth mentioning that during the nationwide uprising of 2022, thousands of compatriots arrested in various cities and transferred to prisons and detention centers. Many of these prisoners unidentified and are subjected to the worst forms of torture. We urge fellow citizens to provide us with news related to them.
