Ideological-political prisoner Hamza Darwish transferred to solitary confinement after his hunger strike. And deprived of phone calls and visits his family.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society. Hamzeh Darwish, a religious-political Sunni prisoner, is on hunger strike since October 17, 2023.
According to an informed source, he stated that the reason for his hunger strike is that he does not feel safety of his life. And his life is in daunger by the authorities of Rasht’s Lakan Prison (Central Rasht).
After the hunger strike, the head of the prison threatened him with solitary confinement, and after a few days, they transferred him to solitary confinement. The prison officials also took his personal belongings and necessities and did not hand them over to him.
This source states that Hamzeh disagrees with the 14-year sentence That he received for the Lakan prison riot in Rasht. He informed the prison authorities that he had no participate in the prison’s destruction. And said that, he was in solitary confinement duing the riot, but yet he still sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Hamzeh Darwish moved to solitary confinement following the Lakan prison riot in October 2022 (during the 2022 national uprising) and endured 7 months of torture. It is important to note that he was already in solitary confinement when riot happend.
On July 30, 2023, by the first branch of the Rasht Revolution Court headed by Judge Ahmad Darwish Gophtar. Then he accused of “gathering and colluding against the security of the country”. And also “participating in deliberate destruction with the intention of confronting the regime”, “insulting Khamenei”. Than “He sentenced to 14 years in prison and exiled to Ramhormoz for intentionally burning the prison building. And he accused burning its belongings with the intention of confronting the regime too.
