Increase of the rent crisis put pressure on the shoulders of poorest decile (2)

The inflation rate in March 2023 was more than 47%, which is the highest figure in the last 10 years.

The government of Ebrahim Raisi is trying to show the reason for the rent increase to the house owners and real estate trading companies. While this increase is the result of rampant inflation that has dominated the entire country.

According to the report of the Iranian Human Rights Society, a review of the published statistics shows that the biggest influence on the inflation of the first decile of the society is after the food group, housing, and rent increase. In other words, the greatest pressure of housing inflation applied to the poorest decile of society. Since the highest amount of consumption in the first decile of society leads to basic and essential goods, the increase in rent can cause severe economic shocks to this decile.

Field surveys show that rents in Tehran and most cities have increased dramatically. These days, finding an apartment in the south of Tehran with a mortgage of less than 100 million tomans and a monthly rent of 5 million is difficult.

In this year, the salary base of the workers announced to be close to 8 million tomans. A household usually has to spend one third of its monthly income on housing. This amount is close to 2.7 million Tomans according to this year’s salary base. while It is impossible to find an acceptable shelter by paying this amount of rent.

The effect of other parameters on rent control

The control of housing rent depends on the control of inflation and inflation in all economic sectors. Inflation and high prices are caused by the performance and predatory policies of the government. For more than 40 years, the people’s assets stolen by the heads of the government or spent on projects that only served the survival of the government. Getting out of this crisis requires a fundamental change, which is possible only by overthrowing this predatory government.
