The political prisoner Kamal Sharifi deprived of the right to leave and parole for the past 16 years, and during this time he has met his family only once.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, political prisoner Kamal Sharifi is spending the 16th year of his sentence in Minab prison. Kamal Sharifi suffered a stroke and heart attack in Minab prison in 2012 and 2020 due to torture and bad prison conditions.
The prison authorities have returned him to prison every time without completing the treatment period. In the past 16 years, he has been deprived of the right to leave and parole, and during this period he met his family only once.
Kamal Sharifi, a 51-year-old journalist from Saqqez, is a political prisoner. He sentenced to 30 years in prison and exile to Minab prison, as well as deprived of all rights of a prisoner, including furlough, family visits, employment, and any other form of communication, by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court in Saqqez, under the presidency of Judge Shayegh, on charges of “Moharebeh” in a 5-minute trial.
Kamal Sharifi, a political prisoner, arrested by the Ministry of Intelligence forces in Saqqez on May 25, 2008. He subjected to torture for 6 months in order to obtain forced confessions.
In 2021, Amnesty International warned in a letter addressed to the authorities about the dire physical and mental conditions of the political prisoner Kamal Sharifi, but the prison authorities did not make any changes to his harsh conditions.
Political prisoner Kamal Sharifi wrote in April 2021, expressing his situation in a letter of suffering:
“I am imprisoned for 13 years. And requested leave more than 20 times in writing to the prosecutor, chief of judiciary. And also judicial authorities of the provinces of Hormozgan and Kurdistan. But after a lot of effort, it remained inconclusive and unanswered.
After suffering a stroke and still showing its effects on my face, I had a heart attack on March 12th and returned to the same ward and the same room after angioplasty. For thirteen years, I have been dealing with digestive disease and poor-quality prison food, and the smell of opium and marijuana smoke.”
