Continued Detention and Torture of Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi

Iran detains 79-year-old Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi in Qom Intelligence Center. He faces heart disease, cancer, and denial of medical care amid torture. This repression targets justice-seeking families.

Iran Human Rights Society, Monday, September 8, 2025 – Authorities detain and torture political prisoner Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi in Qom Intelligence Detention Center. At 79 years old, he endures harsh conditions. He suffers from heart disease, a torn meniscus, prostate cancer, and age-related weakness. Security forces arrest him without a warrant on July 28, 2025. They transfer him to solitary confinement. Officials deny him medical care. They also impose psychological pressure through interrogations. This detention highlights the regime’s repression of dissidents. Furthermore, it endangers his life. Benazadeh Amirkhizi belongs to families seeking justice for 1980s victims. His case demands global attention to halt such abuses.

Security forces raid Mohammad Benazadeh Amirkhizi’s Tehran home on the morning of July 28, 2025. They enter without a judicial warrant. Agents forcibly remove him. They transport him to Qom Intelligence Detention Center. His family receives no information. They manage only brief, monitored phone calls. This arrest signals intense pressure on an elderly, ill man. Therefore, it violates basic legal protections. Human rights groups condemn the unlawful entry and seizure.

Harsh Conditions in Solitary Confinement

Mohammad Benazadeh

Benazadeh Amirkhizi endures prolonged solitary confinement. Guards subject him to repeated interrogations. They deny family visits. Officials block access to medical facilities. This isolation causes severe psychological strain. However, authorities ignore his pleas. Cell conditions worsen his physical decline. Therefore, his health deteriorates rapidly. Activists label this treatment as white torture. It breaks prisoners without visible violence.

Critical Health Issues Ignored

Benazadeh Amirkhizi battles multiple serious illnesses. Heart disease plagues him daily. A torn meniscus limits his mobility. Prostate cancer requires urgent care. Age-related weakness adds to his frailty. Doctors previously stress continuous treatment. Yet, authorities refuse basic tests. They block specialized medical attention. This denial puts him at risk of gradual death. Furthermore, it shows deliberate neglect. Informed sources report his condition worsens in detention.

Denial of Fundamental Rights

Authorities strip Benazadeh Amirkhizi of key rights since his arrest. He gains no access to a lawyer. Prolonged isolation continues without charges. Family contact remains restricted. Medical aid stays unavailable. These actions exemplify white torture tactics. Human rights activists highlight the inconsistencies. They clash with international laws. Moreover, they ignore Iran’s own regulations. Therefore, this case exposes systemic abuses.

History of Repeated Arrests

Benazadeh Amirkhizi, 79, lives in Tehran as a married father of several children. He faces arrests in 2009 and 2016 for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. He serves about 10 years total in Evin and Gohardasht prisons. Officials release him from Gohardasht on July 15, 2021, after his sentence ends. However, restrictions follow, including an exile order. He belongs to 1980s-affected families. The regime victimizes them repeatedly. His latest arrest at advanced age shows no mercy for the elderly or ill. Therefore, it intimidates justice seekers.

Part of Broader Repression Campaign

Authorities target Benazadeh Amirkhizi amid wider suppression. They focus on dissidents and 1980s justice-seeking families. His siblings, Ali and Sakineh Amirkhizi, die as PMOI members in 1981 and 1988. Decades later, security forces pursue survivors. This re-arrest warns other families. It demands silence or harsher consequences. Furthermore, it fits the regime’s pattern of fear tactics. Activists call for international intervention. They urge pressure to end such pursuits.

Blatant Human Rights Violations

Benazadeh Amirkhizi’s detention breaches core principles. Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights protects liberty and security. His warrantless arrest and unclear detention violate this directly. Article 10 ensures a fair trial. Denying a lawyer and public hearing robs his defense. Article 25 guarantees medical care for health. Blocking treatment for grave illnesses ignores this right. Article 5 prohibits torture and inhumane treatment. Solitary confinement and pressure constitute white torture clearly.

At 79, Benazadeh Amirkhizi faces ruthless policies. He suffers punishment for political activities and justice efforts. Now, denial of care threatens his life. The regime uses arrest, torture, and white tactics to silence protests.
