In an obvious crime, the judiciary of Iran executed the 23-year-old protester Mohammad Ghobadlo
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, political prisoner Mohammad Ghobadlo was executed. The Judiciary News Agency announced the execution of Mohammad Ghobadlo death sentence.
Last night, Tuesday, January 23, his lawyer Amir Raisian announced that he was notified of the execution date of Mohammad (January 23). This is while the death sentence of Mohammad Ghobadlo rejected by the Supreme Court. He considered this ruling as a negation of his client’s legal rights and equivalent to legal murder.
Mohammad Ghobadlo’s mother and family gathered all night long in front of GHezelHesar prison along with their relatives. After announcing the news of Muhammad’s execution, cries of distress and also protest filled the entire space around the prison.
Mohammad Ghobadlo, born in 2000, the son of Mohammad Ali, is one of those arrested in the nationwide protests of 2022.
Charges of Mohammad Ghobadlo
He sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on charges of Moharebeh “corruption on earth through extensive actions against motorized police officers, hitting a car and killing Farid Karampour Hasanvand, and injuring 5 other repressive forces, destroying and acting against national security leading to public disorder and insecurity in the country, and causing damage to public property and individuals.”
On Saturday, December 24, 2022, his death sentence confirmed. But later on January 23, the Supreme Court announced that it had registered his lawyer’s appeal. His lawyer had already announced that the accused’s case has many flaws, insufficient documentation that he is guilty.
On Wednesday, February 1, 2022, Amir Hashemi, Director of Public Relations of the Supreme Court, announced the suspension of the death sentence of Mohammad Ghobadlo. He announced that the decision to suspend the execution of Mohammad Ghobadlo sentence issued in the Supreme Court after his lawyer’s request to resume the proceedings.
The human rights society of Iran condemns this open crime of the government.
