in Detainees & Arrested, Human Rights, Spotlight
Discover names of over 50 detainees from Iran protests in cities like Tehran and Sanandaj. Learn why publicizing arrests protects rights and prevents violations in 2026.

Documentation for Domestic and International Follow-ups

Publicizing the names and details of detainees is one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of citizens’ rights being violated.

Iran Human Rights Society, Friday, January 9, 2026 – Amid the ongoing wave of protests and intensified security crackdowns in various cities, the names of dozens of individuals detained in recent protests have been published. Many of these arrests have occurred without transparent notification, with ambiguity surrounding the location of detention and the legal status of the individuals.

Important Note: The four Kurdish nurses from Dehloran Hospital were detained solely for treating the injured, raising serious concerns about the safety of medical personnel and the criminalization of medical services.

The Recurring Pattern of Arrests During Protests

Protests follow a routine. Officials send summons via phone. They use text messages too. Detainees move to unknown spots. Lawyers face delays. Families lose contact. Some cities hide locations. Worries rise for safety. Physical harm threatens detainees. Mental stress builds up.

Experts note these trends. They repeat in waves. History shows patterns. Protests in past years mirror this. Authorities deny access. Families search endlessly. Groups push for change. They demand transparency now.

The Importance of Publicizing Detainees’ Information

You reduce risks by sharing names. Public eyes watch authorities. Violations cost more then. Enforced disappearances drop. Families gain strength. They pursue legal paths. Society learns the truth. Silence breaks here.

Activists stress this method. It works in practice. Past cases prove it. Detainees fare better publicly. Pressure builds on officials. Rights stay protected.

Link Between Disclosure and Legal Recommendations

In recent days, jurists and independent lawyers have warned against unofficial summonses and threatening messages, emphasizing that such contacts lack legal validity. These warnings underscore the doubled importance of accurately registering and publishing information about detainees, as transparency serves as the first barrier against hidden security pressures.

Documentation for Domestic and International Follow-ups

Information about protest detainees serves more than just a news function. This data can form the basis for reporting to human rights organizations, independent lawyers, and international mechanisms. Each recorded name becomes a document—one that can help prevent continued rights violations and pave the way for accountability.

As protests continue across the country, the accurate and responsible publication of detainees’ names remains a vital action to protect their lives and rights—an action that breaks the silence and keeps the possibility of pursuit alive.
