Azizi political prisoner sentenced to death. According to the report of Iran Human Rights Society, Tuesday, July 23, 2024. The life of the political prisoner Pakhshan Azizi is in danger. She sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court.
According to an informed source July 23, 2024, the political prisoner Azizi was notified that she sentenced to death. She previously accused of sedition and since the beginning of July, she banned from meeting and contacting her family. It was order of the Evin prison authorities.
Political prisoner Azizi arrested on 4th Augst 2023 in Shahrak Kharazi, Tehran, and arrested and tortured in the Intelligence Detention Center of this city. She was then transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison and later to Ward of Women in Prison.
The political prisoner, Azizi, tortured and pressured by the security authorities to force confessions. In the winter of 2023, she was accused of “treason through membership in opposition groups”. It decided by the 5th investigation of the Evin Security Prosecutor’s Office.
Also, two court hearings of this political prisoner held on the 28th of May and 16th of June 2024, on the charge of “treason” in Branch 26 of the Islamic Revolution Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari.
The political prisoner is Pakhshan Azizi, a native of Mahabad and a graduate of social work from Allameh Tabatabai University.
Azizi arrested for the first time in November 2009
She arrested for the first time in November 2009 in a protest gathering of students against political executions in Kurdistan. On March 18, 2009, Azizi was released on a heavy bail of 100 million tomans. This political prisoner arrested for the last time on August 4, 2023, by the security forces on charges of “membership in opposition groups”.
Earlier, in May 2024, Pakhshan Azizi sat down and went on a hunger strike in front of the guards of the women’s prison to protest the transfer of the Kurdish political prisoner Verishe Moradi to Ward 209 in Evin.
