Reza Akbari, is one of the old political prisoners who arrested, and sentenced to prison for the umpteenth time.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Saturday, June 17, 2023, the political prisoner Reza Akbari Monfared sentenced to five years in prison by Judge Afshari on charges of “assembly and collusion” in Branch 26 of Tehran Revolutionary Court.
Reza Akbari Monfared was arrested on Sunday, March 11, 2023 in Tehran. And interrogated for two months in solitary cells 209 of Evin prison. Finally, on Thursday, May 21, 2023, he transferred from solitary cell 209 to Ward 4 of Evin Prison.
He previously arrested in nationwide protests. He had an open case and released on a bail of 500 million tomans.
Reza Akbari is one of the political prisoners of the 60s. Who imprisoned in Evin and Gohardasht prisons for 5 years in the 90s.
He arrested on January 15, 2013 and sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison on charges of Moharebeh and connection with the People’s Mojahedin.

Akbari spent his sentence in Evin and Gohardasht prisons and finally released on February 1, 2018 from Gohardasht prison (Rajai Shahr, Karaj).
Reza Akbari Monfared, 4 members of his family, 20-year-old Alireza, 26-year-old Gholamreza in 1981 and 1985, as well as 30-year-old Ruqiya and 23-year-old Abdul Reza executed in the massacre of political prisoners in 1988.

One of his sisters, named Maryam Akbari Monfared, has been imprisoned in Evin and Semnan prisons for 13 years because of a complaint against her siblings. He is currently in exile in Semnan prison.
