This freedom-loving teacher, who is more than 70 years old, can use fresh air only one hour a day.
According to an informed source, “His phone calls are controlled from beginning to end.” The audio and video of the meeting reviewed and archived by the interrogators of Mashhad Intelligence Department. And for various reasons and by any pretext, they cut off their meeting.”
This source adds: “His phone calls must be in the presence of prison officers.” If there are no officers, he not allowed to use the phone. On official holidays, it is not possible to call the family due to the absence of the officers.”
Political prisoner Hashem Khastar has only had two face-to-face visits during the years he has been in prison.
Mr. Khastar beaten and tortured for various reasons. In January 2023, Mrs. Siddiqeh Maleki, the wife of this political prisoner, reported that he was beaten by prison agents. Mrs. Maleki also reported that he transferred to solitary confinement and deprived of visits and phone calls.

Hashem Khastar, a teacher, was born on May 23, 1953, in Birjand. He is an agricultural engineer, a retired teacher, a member of the board of directors of the Mashhad Teachers Union and a representative of Iranian teachers.
Hashem graduated in agricultural engineering in 1355 from Urmia University of Agriculture and was a teacher at the Agricultural Academy.
