Amid Israel’s attacks, political prisoner Ali Younesi was abducted and transferred to an unknown location.
The Iran Human Rights Society, Wednesday, 28 Khordad 1404 (June 18, 2025): Around 1:00 PM today, political prisoner Ali Younesi was abruptly and violently transferred from Ward 4 of Evin Prison to an unknown location.
According to a reliable source, intelligence agents, with prior planning and the knowledge of Evin Prison’s head, Hedayatollah Farzadi, abducted him and transferred him to an unknown location with physical assault.
Ali Younesi’s sister, Aida Younesi, wrote on her Instagram page:
“Today, intelligence agents forcibly abducted my brother #Ali_Younesi from Evin Prison and transferred him to an unknown location. My mother is in a state of distress due to worry. We don’t know where they’ve taken Ali.
Shame on you for not leaving prisoners alone even in these circumstances, venting your anger and grudges on them.
Your audacity knows no bounds.”
About Ali Younesi
Ali Younesi, a computer engineering student, and Amirhossein Moradi, a physics student, both elite students at Sharif University of Technology, were arrested on 22 Farvardin 1399 (April 10, 2020) by intelligence agents without a judicial warrant. Their arrest was accompanied by physical assault. The two students were then transferred to solitary confinement in Ward 209 of Evin Prison.
On the evening of Friday, 22 Farvardin 1399, agents searched their homes without a judicial warrant and arrested the two student activists with severe beatings. During the raid on Ali Younesi’s home, 12 IRGC agents brutally assaulted him, splitting his forehead.
Amirhossein Moradi won a silver medal in the National Astronomy Olympiad in 1396 (2017), while Ali Younesi won a silver medal in the National Astronomy Olympiad in 1395 (2016) and a gold medal in 1396 (2017). Additionally, Ali Younesi brought pride to Iran by winning a gold medal at the 12th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad held in China.
These two elite student political prisoners, on 5 Tir 1401 (June 26, 2022), after 808 days in solitary confinement and closed wards of Evin Prison, were transferred to the general wards of Evin with heavy 16-year prison sentences.
Ali Younesi is currently imprisoned in Evin Prison alongside his father, Miryousef Younesi. Miryousef was arrested during nationwide protests and was ultimately sentenced to 5 years in prison by Judge Iman Afshari of Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.
