Transfer of ten prisoners for execution
According to an informed source, one of these prisoners, Bagher Mohammadi, son of Ebrahim, is from Kuhdasht. Bagher Mohammadi detained for 10 years. The prisoners charged with drug-related offenses. There is no information available about the name and details of the Afghan prisoner.
Iran is a country that uses the tool of execution to suppress its own people and has the highest number of executions per capita. The death sentences are issued and carried out after unfair and non-compliant trials with international standards and for crimes that are not considered “very serious crimes” according to common legal definitions around the world.
The high number of executions of prisoners in Iran has received negative reactions globally. Mr. Javaid Rahman condemned the deprivation of citizens’ right to access a lawyer in his periodic report.
Amnesty International also condemned the increase in the number of executions in Iran and called for global action to stop such sentences.
