Political prisoner and pro-libertarian teacher Hashem Khastar exposed to white persecution with repeated filings
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, the repetitive prosecution of political prisoner Hashem Khastar is a clear example of white torture against this teacher. On Tursday, September 26th, 2023, Mr. Khastar participated in a court session via video conference, which formed on charges of “spreading lies” and “disturbing public opinion.” This session held by Branch 145 of the Criminal Court of Mashhad.
According to a reliable source, this prosecution was formed regarding his final defense and last message. Two months ago, in July 2023, Mr. Khastar sentenced to two and a half years in prison in another case for sending his memoirs outside of prison. This verdict was issued by the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad, and he accused of “insulting Khamenei and propaganda against the system” in this case. The court session for Mr. Khastar’s case held on July 8th, 2023.

This 71-year-old political prisoner has subjected to deprivation of phone calls. And also visits, and medical care under torture and pressure many times. He arrested for his opposition to the government from 2009 until now and has spent many years in prison. During these years, he has faced not only physical torture but also psychological torture (white torture).
He currently facing serious and dangerous illnesses such as heart and respiratory diseases at the age of 71 and deprived of medical attention in the Vakilabad prison in Mashhad. According to the latest reports, he has suffered from severe weight loss. In addition, Mr. Khastar suffers from sciatica and high blood pressure.
Hashem Khastar, born on May 23, 1953 in Birjand, is an agricultural engineer, retired teacher. Also member of the board of directors of Teachers’ Association in Mashhad, representative of Iranian teachers, and a political prisoner.
Khastar received his degree in agricultural engineering from Urmia University in 1976. And had been teaching at an agricultural high school.
