Three prisoners of drug charges executed in Ardabil Central Prison
According to the report of the Iranian Human Rights Society, on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. in the central prison of Ardabil, three inmates of drug-related charges executed.
Rokna website, in the news it published today, while announcing this news, added that in recent days, six other prisoners executed in Ardabil Central Prison for the same charge.
This news agency did not announce the names and details of the executed prisoners.
Execution is a type of punishment and punishment, in other words, the most severe punishment for the convict. Currently, most countries in the world have abolished the death penalty, and countries that still have this type of punishment in their laws, except in rare cases, refrain from issuing or enforcing such sentences.
The death sentence is legal in Iran, and in Iran’s judicial rulings, this punishment issued for some political crimes, murder, rape, sexual abuse of children, adultery, drug trafficking, armed robbery, kidnapping, and Moharebeh. The implementation of the death sentence in Iran under the dictatorship of Velayat al-Faqih used to increase repression.
Why is there execution in Iran?

50 countries have abolished this method of death and 6 countries only use execution during wartime. Currently, only 34 or 36 countries use this inhumane punishment. Iran ranking second in terms of the number of executions .
