On the evening of Sunday 9 Farvardin, prison guard forces by entering Ward 4 of Qezelhesar Prison, beat the political prisoners and took them out of the ward and transferred them to solitary cells and unknown locations; an action that took place simultaneously with the transfer and execution of the sentence of two political prisoners Akbar Daneshvar Kar and Mohammad Taghavi and has increased concerns about the possibility of intensified suppression of prisoners in Qezelhesar Prison.

Raid of Guard Forces on the Political Prisoners’ Ward in Qezelhesar Prison
According to published reports, on the evening of Sunday 9 Farvardin, special guard forces and security officers entered Ward 4 of Qezelhesar Prison, which is the place of detention of political prisoners.
According to informed sources, the officers entered the ward without providing any explanation or prior notification and beat the prisoners with batons and then took them out of the ward.
Reports indicate that these prisoners after being beaten were transferred to solitary cells or unspecified locations in Qezelhesar Prison and so far there is no precise information about their situation and place of detention. The lack of news about the situation of these prisoners has increased the concerns of their families.
Simultaneity of Suppression of Prisoners with the Execution of Sentences
This action in Qezelhesar Prison took place simultaneously with the transfer of two political prisoners for the execution of the sentence. According to sources, during the transfer of these two prisoners for the execution of the sentence, the officers entered the political prisoners’ ward and carried out beatings and transfer of other prisoners.
Reports show that after this raid, a number of political prisoners of Qezelhesar Prison were transferred to unknown locations and this very issue has increased concerns about the situation of other prisoners, especially prisoners sentenced to death.

Among the prisoners who have been transferred to unknown locations, the names of individuals such as Khosrow Rahnama, Asadollah Hadi, Saeed Masouri, Afshin Baymani, Hamzeh Savari, Babak Alipour, Ali Moazi, Vahid Bani Amorian, Pouya Ghobadi, Maysam Dehbanzadeh, Sepehr Imam Jom’eh, Loghman Aminpour, Abolhassan Montazer, Reza Mohammad Hosseini, Arsham Rezaei, Hossein Ramazani, Ahmadreza Haeri, Ali Younesi and Akbar Bagheri have been mentioned.
Increase in Concerns about Prisoners Sentenced to Death
Simultaneously with these events in Qezelhesar Prison, recent statements of judicial officials about “the necessity of timely implementation of sentences” have also increased concerns. Some observers believe that these statements can be a sign of the possibility of execution of death sentences against other political prisoners sentenced to death. Currently, a number of political prisoners in Qezelhesar Prison are facing death sentences and their transfer to solitary confinement or unknown locations can be a sign of increased danger of execution of sentences.
History of Violent Treatment of Prisoners in Qezelhesar Prison
The recent raid on the political prisoners’ ward in Qezelhesar Prison has occurred while previously there were also reports of violent treatment of political prisoners in this prison that had been published.
According to reports, in Mordad 1404 as well, before the execution of political prisoners Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, special guard forces raided the political prisoners’ ward in Qezelhesar Prison and beat the prisoners and transferred a number of them to solitary cells.
According to sources, in that raid as well, armed special guard forces along with security officers entered the ward and after beating the prisoners, transferred a number of them to solitary confinement.
These events show that violent treatments with political prisoners in Qezelhesar Prison have a history and concerns about the repetition of such treatments still exist.
Lack of News about the Situation of Transferred Prisoners
One of the main concerns at present is the lack of news about the situation of prisoners who were taken out of Ward 4 of Qezelhesar Prison and transferred to unknown locations. The families of these prisoners have announced that they have no information about their health situation and place of detention and this very issue has increased concerns.
