Iran Human Rights Society, Monday, April 10, 2025 – Mai Sato, the United Nations Special Rapporteur, by publishing a message on the social network X, condemned the execution of Akbar Daneshvar Kar and Mohammad Taghavi and announced that the execution of Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvar Kar is a continuation of the use of the death penalty to suppress opponents. She also announced that the execution of Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvar Kar was carried out in the conditions of war and long-term internet shutdown.

Mai Sato announced in a message on the social network X that since the beginning of the war, several executions have been recorded in conditions of complete internet shutdown. In this message, she specifically referred to the execution of Akbar Daneshvar Kar and Mohammad Taghavi and announced that the execution of Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvar Kar is a continuation of a trend in which the death penalty is used to suppress opponents.
According to Mai Sato, in September 2025, she along with a group of United Nations experts, by sending an urgent letter to the Iranian authorities, demanded the halt of the execution of Akbar Daneshvar Kar and Mohammad Taghavi. However, despite these requests, the execution sentence of Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvar Kar was carried out.

In Mai Sato’s message, it is stated that since the beginning of the war, at least six cases of execution have been recorded in conditions of complete internet shutdown; a situation that has now continued for more than 30 days. According to her, during this period, three people were executed in connection with the nationwide protests, another person was executed on charges of espionage, and today Akbar Daneshvar Kar and Mohammad Taghavi were also executed. She emphasized that the execution of Mohammad Taghavi and Akbar Daneshvar Kar was carried out in conditions where the internet has been widely cut off, and this issue has increased concerns about the trial process and informing about these executions.
