According to the report of the Iranian Human Rights Society, with the appointment of a person named Keshavarz as the head of the Karaj Central Prison, the psychological and physical pressure on the prisoners has increased. In this regard, by the order of the new head of the prison, the distribution of fruits to the prisoners stopped.
Cutting the portion of fruit for prisoners who have financial problems means being deprived of eating fruit. This action will bring irreparable consequences for the prisoners.
Cutting the fruit quota is in line with the pressure on the prisoners to cooperate in spying and revealing their connections and drug distribution. Using financial problems, the prison officials force the prisoners to distribute drugs. The share of the prisoners from the huge profits of this action is a small amount that they can settle their life matters in prison.
The prison store is a place where prisoners looted
The prison store has practically become a place for prisoners to loot. In this place, grade 3 and 4 goods are sold to the prisoners at multiple prices. Many of the materials are out of date and it is practically impossible to use them. According to international laws, these actions are a clear example of torture and violation of the basic laws of human and prisoners’ rights.
Spread of skin disease among prisoners
According to the reports received from the prison, a skin disease has recently spread among the prisoners. Patients suffering from this disease have severe body itching. More toxic scratching causes scarring and infection of the skin surface and its inflammation. This disease has a strong negative effect on the prisoner’s nerves. One of the main causes of the spread of this disease is the lack of health facilities and medical care.
The prison authorities not taken any action in this case and this disease spreading among other prison wards.
Obstructing and ignoring the treatment process of prisoners is one of the common methods in prisons. In this way, prison officials put pressure on prisoners and their families. For treatment, prisoners have to buy medicine from prison guards at multiple prices.
