Report on the conditions of maintenance and torture of detainees in Zahedan.
According to report, many of the detainees in Zahedan have suffered serious injuries such as broken bones and unconsciousness due to continuous torture.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, the conditions of over 500 detainees from the protests on Friday, October 20, 2023, in Zahedan are dire. Information received indicates that security forces have subjected the detainees to torture and violence. It is worth noting that many of the detainees are children under the age of 18.
The government officials are furious about the protests in Zahedan and are seeking revenge against the detainees. They are attempting to prevent further protests in Zahedan and other cities in Sistan and Baluchistan province through widespread arrests and brutal torture.
According to reports, many of the detainees in Zahedan have suffered serious injuries such as bone fractures and unconsciousness due to continuous torture. The report states that several detained children have suffered bone fractures and necessary medical attention has not been provided. Currently, many prisoners have transferred to central and correctional prisons. Most families are unaware of the fate of their children and no organization provides them with a clear answer.
Extensive arrests after protests on Friday, October 20th
Following the demonstrations on Friday, October 20th, 2023 in Zahedan, the leaders of the regime have carried out extensive arrests in this province. These protests took place after Friday prayers on the streets near the Makki Mosque in Zahedan. Security forces attacked the protesters and arrested some of them. Among the detainees, there are at least five children and teenagers under the age of 18.
Security forces transferred the detainees to unknown locations using buses that had been prepared in advance. Many of the detainees were severely beaten and abused by the repressive forces during their arrest.
Since Friday afternoon, October 20th, 2023, security forces have also carried out extensive arrests throughout the city of Zahedan. Many of the citizens of Zahedan have been arrested without any reason and transferred to unknown locations on this day.
