During the past 22 days, at least seventy-three people executed in Iranian prisons. Also, the news indicates that 18 prisoners, including 6 women, are awaiting execution in Isfahan prisons.
According to the Iranian Human Rights Society, with the execution of one prisoner in Mashhad’s Vakil Abad prison, seventy-three prisoners executed in Iran’s prisons in the past 22 days.
On Friday, May 12, 2023, a prisoner named Hossein Rigi executed in Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad. He was 23 years old and arrested in 2020. His charge related to drugs and he sentenced to death for the same charge.
The Iranian Human Rights website reported that 18 prisoners in Dastgerd and Dolat Abad prisons in Isfahan sentenced to death. And in the coming days, their death sentence will carrie out.
Six female prisoners, two female prisoners in Dastgerd prison of Isfahan and four other female prisoners in Daulatabad women’s prison in Isfahan are among these 18 people.
One of these prisoners, Samira Abbasi, is a child-wife who arrested and sentenced to death for murdering her husband.
In May 2023, the judiciary has accelerated the execution process. In May 2023, which has not yet ended, at least 73 people have been executed. Of these 73 prisoners, two were women, one was a political prisoner, and two were prisoners of conscience.
