Deprivation of Female Political Prisoners in Evin Prison from Visits; Intensification of Pressure on Participants in the "Tuesdays Against Execution" Campaign

Seven female political prisoners in Evin Prison have been sentenced to three weeks of deprivation from visits due to participation in the protest ceremony of “Tuesdays Against Execution” and chanting slogans; an action that is evaluated as a sign of intensification of pressure on political prisoners in the shadow of the security atmosphere after the start of the war.

Iran Human Rights Society, Monday May 4, 2026 – Evin Prison has witnessed an increase in pressure on female political prisoners in recent days; to the extent that seven political prisoners have been deprived of visits with their families due to participation in the protest campaign “Tuesdays Against Execution”. The deprivation of female political prisoners in Evin Prison from visits takes place in conditions where reports indicate the intensification of pressure on political prisoners after the start of the war and the use of the war and ceasefire atmosphere for greater suppression inside prisons.

Who Were Deprived of Visits in Evin Prison?

Based on published reports, in recent days it has been announced to seven female political prisoners in Evin Prison that they will be deprived of visits with their families for a period of three weeks.

The names of these prisoners are as follows: Zahra Safaei, Forough Taghipour, Marzieh Farsi, Elahe Fouladi, Arghavan Fallahi, Shiva Esmaili and Golrokh Iraei.

It has been notified to them that the reason for this deprivation has been singing and chanting slogans in the protest ceremony of “Tuesdays Against Execution”.

What Is the “Tuesdays Against Execution” Campaign?

The “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign is one of the continuous forms of protest by political prisoners in various prisons, in which prisoners declare their opposition to the wave of executions by hunger strike on Tuesdays.

This campaign has turned into one of the most important forms of resistance inside prisons in the past two years. Despite security and disciplinary threats, political prisoners have continued to insist on participating in this campaign.

Previous Threats of Solitary Confinement and Punishment to Prisoners

Informed sources have announced that these prisoners had also been threatened by prison officials previously.

Based on these threats, it had been said to them that in case of continuing to participate in the Tuesdays Against Execution programs, they would face punishments including transfer to solitary confinement cells. Now the implementation of deprivation from visits shows that previous threats have entered the implementation stage.

Increase in Pressure on Political Prisoners After the Start of the War

The deprivation of female political prisoners in Evin Prison from visits takes place in conditions where numerous reports of increase in pressure on political prisoners after the start of the war have been published.

In recent weeks and months, restrictions on contact, reduction of visits, increase in disciplinary threats and intensification of psychological pressure on political prisoners in various prisons have been reported. Human rights observers believe that the war atmosphere has turned into a tool for expanding security pressure inside prisons.

Use of the War and Ceasefire Atmosphere for Greater Suppression in Prisons

Analysts believe that the security structure has taken advantage of war conditions and the post-ceasefire atmosphere as a cover for intensifying suppression inside prisons.

In this framework, limiting the rights of prisoners, increasing disciplinary punishments and intensifying pressure on political prisoners are carried out with less sensitivity and public monitoring. In the opinion of observers, prisons in this period have turned into one of the main centers of applying security pressure.

Resistance of Political Prisoners Against Pressures

Despite the intensification of pressures, political prisoners continue to emphasize the continuation of protest and strike in the Tuesdays Against Execution campaign.

The continuation of this campaign in Evin Prison and other prisons shows that disciplinary and security pressures have not been able to stop this protest movement. The prisoners’ insistence on continuing the protest in conditions of increased threats and punishments is indicative of the continuation of organized resistance against the policy of execution and suppression in prisons.

Evin Prison; Intensification of Suppression in Reaction to Protest Against Execution

The deprivation of seven female political prisoners in Evin Prison from visits with family due to participation in the “Tuesdays Against Execution” campaign is an example of the intensification of pressure on political prisoners in reaction to inside-prison protests. This action in the context of increased security pressure after the start of the war is evaluated as a sign of using the crisis atmosphere for greater suppression of opponents in prisons.
